Summary
I would love to see NocoDB evolve beyond being primarily a database interface by introducing a flexible, Notion-style Document system combined with intelligent PDF/print design tools. 
NocoDB already has a fantastic foundation with databases, relationships, ERD, open source and self-hosting. Adding a document and publishing layer could make it a much more complete platform for documentation, reporting, knowledge management, templates and printable resources.
1. Flexible, Notion-style Documents
A new Document feature could allow users to freely design pages using blocks such as:
Text and rich formatting
Headings and sections
Images
Tables
Database views
Charts
Checklists
Callouts
Embedded records/views
ER diagrams
Other widgets/embeds
The key would be user-controlled layout. Users should be able to arrange and design their documents freely rather than being restricted to predefined templates.
This could be useful for:
Documentation
SOPs
Knowledge bases
Project reports
Manuals
Educational resources
Templates
Client-facing reports
Internal documentation
2. “Print Exactly What I See” PDF Export
A particularly useful feature would be native PDF export based on the rendered document.
The workflow could be:
Document → 
Print Preview → 
PDF
Instead of requiring every widget or embedded view to have its own traditional PDF conversion, NocoDB could essentially render/capture the final document visually, preserving what the user sees on screen.
In simple terms:
If I can see it in my NocoDB document, I should be able to print it as a PDF looking the same way.
This would be especially useful for documents containing:
Embedded database views
Tables
Charts
Images
Widgets
ER diagrams
Custom layouts
Ideally, PDF export would support:
A4 / A3
↔️ Portrait / Landscape
Margins
Page breaks
Headers / Footers
High-resolution output
3. Print Preview / Export Buffer
I’d also love an intermediate Print Preview / Export Buffer before generating the final PDF.
This would allow users to decide exactly what gets printed.
For example:

Internal notes
Chart
ER diagram
Users could:
Include/exclude individual blocks
Hide fields
Hide records
Adjust page breaks
Rearrange content
Preview the final result
Choose paper size/orientation
Make final adjustments before exporting
This would make PDF export much more powerful than simply exporting the entire page.
4. Privacy: Hide, Blur or Redact Data
This could also solve an important problem when creating templates or demonstrations.
Imagine someone has created a beautiful document containing a database table, but the table contains real/private information.
They should be able to preserve the design and structure while protecting the actual data.
For example:
Hide → remove the value but preserve the layout
Blur → visually obscure the value
Redact → replace the value with •••••• or ████
This would be extremely useful for creating:
Public templates
Tutorials
Documentation
Training materials
Demonstrations
Client examples
without exposing private information.
For serious privacy protection, I think true redaction/masking would be preferable to relying only on blur.
5. AI Document Designer
This is where I think NocoDB could become particularly innovative. 
An AI Document Designer could take an existing database, view or document and help turn it into a professionally designed printable document.
For example, a user could simply ask:
“Create an A4 printable report from this database.”
or:
“Turn this view into a professional project report.”
“Make this suitable for printing.”
“Create a landscape A3 version.”
“Keep the table but improve the surrounding layout.”
“Make this look like a professional client report.”
The AI could suggest:
Page layout
Typography
Spacing
Sections
Page breaks
Table layouts
Headings
Images
Summaries
Report structure
It should also be able to enhance an existing document, rather than requiring users to start from scratch.
For example:
Existing Document → AI Designer → Improve Layout → User Edits → Print Preview → PDF
Most importantly, the AI should assist rather than take control. Users should be able to edit everything the AI generates.

This could turn NocoDB into much more than a database interface:

And it would still preserve what makes NocoDB unique:

Self-Hosting + Data Control
Why I think this would be valuable
NocoDB already has a very strong database foundation. The missing piece, in my opinion, is the ability to take that structured data and turn it into beautifully designed documents that can be shared, printed and archived.
This could make NocoDB a compelling alternative not only to traditional database tools, but also to parts of the Notion/Fibery ecosystem.
The core idea is simple:
“Give me the data, let me design what I want to communicate, let AI help me make it beautiful, and let me print exactly what I see.”
I think this could be a very powerful direction for NocoDB.
