Many-to-Many relationship creation [Feb 10]

:raising_hand_man: 7rozen_7ear_ asked

It seems like updates can break many-to-many relationships. At least it one might have become broken last night on Heroku. Is this a known issue?

hi, does creation of m2m relation caused the problem ?

:man_technologist: pranavxc replied

can you share more details ?

:raising_hand_man: 7rozen_7ear_ replied

I’d gladly share more details!

First of all, this is a free deploy on Heroku.

So: basically this was up and running quite smoothly for a while. But I’ve noticed two things:

* Names of Has Many-columns and M2M-columns don’t persist;

* Some M2M-relationships but not all of them broke after a while. It might have something to do with a NocoDB upgrade on Heroku’s servers. After closer inspection I saw that this M2M-relationship lacks a column, as all columns are visible in the screenshot. As you can see, there’s only one Has Many-relationship in the auxiliary M2M-table.

I’m going to host a NocoDB-instance on my own using MySQL in order to rule out e.g. issues with SQLite.

Any more information you’d like to know?

:man_technologist: pranavxc replied

ok… so the problem happened after migration, right ?

:man_technologist: pranavxc replied

Any change did you done after migration ?

:man_technologist: pranavxc replied

And how did you migrated to latest version ?

:raising_hand_man: 7rozen_7ear_ replied

The migration is an assumption, as Heroku gave me a notification of a new release. I actually left this project unattended for a week.

okkk

:man_technologist: pranavxc replied

does anyone manullay deleted one of the relation in that m2m table?

:man_technologist: pranavxc replied

thanks, we will try to reproduce the problem. If you could able reproduce the problem again let us know the steps as well.

:person_tipping_hand: o1lab replied

at the moment its not clear what the issue is from the description.

:raising_hand_man: 7rozen_7ear_ replied

No, I just logged back in and the relation was broken. I’ve literaly not touched it for a week and only opened the M2M-tables for the screenshot.

:man_technologist: pranavxc replied

ok

:raising_hand_man: 7rozen_7ear_ replied

If I find a way to consistently reproduce this, I’ll let you know!

:man_technologist: pranavxc replied

Sure thanks, that will help us to figure out the root cause :+1:
